A wanderful return

Harry Potter movies back in Colorado theaters for one week

- By Elizabeth Hernandez

Attention witches, wizards, owls, werewolves and muggles alike: Harry Potter movies are coming back to the big screen for one glorious week and Colorado is getting a piece of the magic.

No, this isn’t Rita Skeeter playing an unusually cruel trick on loyal readers. The Wizarding World XD Week will be gracing silver screens from Aug. 31 to Sept. 6 at Cinemark theaters in Lakewood, Colorado Springs and Fort Collins.

Fans across the country are being blessed with this throwback to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first book’s release in the United States at the end of August.

Tickets are available online at cinemark.com, but make sure to move faster than a wand stuck in troll bogies.

A festival pass promising recipients the opportunity to see all nine films — the eight original movies along with “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”

— for $25 has already sold out at Century 16 Bel Mar in Lakewood, although a manager at the location on Tuesday said there’s a chance passes could be added.

The Fort Collins and Colorado Springs locations both reported having a small number of festival passes left. The passes include a free collectible keychain, a specially designed cup and a commemorative badge.

In the meantime, you can check the film dates and times online and buy seats to single showings at $5 a pop.

Apologies in advance if we share a theater — they’re happy sobs, I promise! Compiled by Mark Collins, Special to the Denver Post
