NEB.» Police have arrested LINCOLN, two more people in connection with a burglary at the home of Nebraska football coach Scott Frost.

Lincoln police said Monday that a 20-year-old man was taken into custody Saturday and a 16-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday. A 17-yearold girl also was arrested last week.

Officer Angela Sands says investigators recovered several pairs of athletic shoes believed to have been stolen.

Frost told police on July 29 that burglars entered an unlocked garage door at his house, which is unoccupied while being renovated.

Football helmets and artwork were reported missing, along with the athletic shoes. Frost originally reported 14 championship rings from his time at three schools as a player and coach also were taken. The rings were later found in the garage.

Former BYU linebacker cleared to play for Utes.

SALT LAKE

CITY» Francis Bernard is getting a second chance to continue his football career.

The former BYU linebacker was cleared to join Utah and started practicing with the team Monday. The junior will have two seasons of eligibility remaining and is eligible to play with the Utes this season.

Bernard adds depth to a linebacker unit that includes starters Chase Hansen and Cody Barton and highly regarded JC transfer Bryant Pirtle.

Hansen already likes what he sees from his new teammate in terms of physicality, aggressiveness and football knowledge.

Utah coach Kyle Whittingham declined to speculate on the exact role Bernard would play with the Utes, but he thinks Bernard has the skills and experience to get up to speed quickly. That could translate into a spot in the rotation or even a crack at a starting job down the line.

Giants’ Barkley strains leg.

The New York Giants had a hold-your-breath moment with rookie running back Saquon Barkley during practice Monday. It turned out to be only a minor scare.

The No. 2 overall draft pick caught a swing pass out of the backfield from fellow rookie Kyle Lauletta and was injured either stretching to make the catch or running down the sideline after the catch.

Barkley seemed to be favoring a leg as he walked back up the field. He eventually put his hands on his knees and then went to the turf and lay on his back while head trainer Ronnie Barnes examined him.

An ice pack was put on his left leg. However, it had been removed before he left the field after the roughly 70minute practice, which was moved indoors because of rain.

Bills’ McCoy sued by ex-girlfriend.

LeSean McCoy’s ex-girlfriend is suing the Buffalo Bills running back for failing to protect her after she was bloodied, beaten and had $133,000 worth of jewelry stolen during a home invasion last month.

Delicia Cordon also alleges in a lawsuit filed in Fulton County, Ga., on Friday that McCoy would “often brutally beat his dog,” and would also “aggressively, physically discipline and beat his young son.”

Without blaming McCoy for playing a role in the home invasion, Cordon accuses him of breaching his duty to protect her because he owned the home. She also says McCoy “permitted a hazardous condition to exist” by installing a new security system and cameras and denying her access to arm the system.

Devils sign Rooney.

The New Jersey Devils signed forward Kevin Rooney to a two-year contract.

Rooney played in 71 games for the Binghamton Devils of the AHL last season, collecting 14 goals and 20 assists. The 25-year-old appeared in one NHL game, and five in his two years as a pro.
