Let us review Friday night’s film.

In Denver’s third preseason game, the starters’ final exhibition showcase at Washington before it counts, Broncos’ quarterback Case Keenum dropped back to pass on his sixth snap facing third-and-short. Lindsay, lined up in the backfield, sprinted toward the far boundary on a wheel route.

The timing? Perfect. Keenum floated the football right into Lindsay’s outstretched arms for an 18-yard gain.

“We’re getting a lot more confidence,” Lindsay said.

Call it a recurring theme for the Colorado Buffaloes legend.

Lindsay has accounted for at least one of Denver’s top-10 yardage plays in each of its three preseason games — a 19-yard touchdown reception and 16yard catch against Chicago, a 15yard run against Minnesota and that deep tear-drop at Washington. He totaled 65 plays in those games (41 on offense and 24 on special teams).

Lindsay, featured prominently with the first-team against the Redskins, appeared in 14 plays at running back — a clear sign as the 53-man roster cut looms Friday that he will indeed be a Bronco.

“(Lindsay) is earning his right to be here and that’s what you want,” coach Vance Joseph said. “That’s in all phases. He’s obviously running the football well, he’s catching the football, he’s been a returner for us, but he’s a hell of a gunner. … He’s the first guy down. He’s earning his way.

“It won’t be given to him, and it shouldn’t be, but he is a guy that’s earned his way.”

When asked what area of Lindsay’s game has improved most since the first day of rookie minicamp, the former Denver South star pointed to special teams.

“It helps your football IQ ,” Lindsay said. “I’m going to do what I have to do to make the team.”

No offensive starters are expected to play when Denver travels to Arizona on Thursday night. While it’s likely Lindsay still participates on special teams against the Cardinals, a lack of running back carries would indicate with near certainty his roster spot is safe. Lindsay wouldn’t speculate either way.

“Nah, that’s not on me,” he said. “I’ll get ready for this next game. If I have to play the whole game, then that’s what I’m going to do.”

There’s only one thing on Lindsay’s mind.

“I want to win a lot of games,” he said.
