JUDGE BACK ON FIELD FOR B.P.

-

Yankees slugger Aaron Judge took onfield batting practice Monday for the first time since breaking his right wrist July 26.

The fiveround session included home runs to all fields by the 2017 AL rookie of the year.

“It went really well. Another big step for him to get out on the field,” said manager Aaron Boone, who called the performance “putting on a show.”

Judge is second on the team with 26 home runs and has 61 RBIs while hitting .285 in 99 games. He’s also struck out 137 times in 372 atbats.

Judge took indoor batting practice the last two days in Seattle and said Sunday the wrist still hurts. He did not speak to media before Monday’s game in Minnesota.

Assuming Judge feels good Tuesday, Boone said he anticipates Judge taking more swings, potentially during group batting practice.

Boone cannot put a timetable on when Judge could be back in the lineup.

“We’re not at that point to where we’re going to throw him in the games yet or something,” he said. “We just want to get through these next couple days where he starts ramping up the amount of swings out on the field and continues to build that momentum.”

Cardinals catcher Molina misses fourth straight start.

Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina was out of the starting lineup for the fourth consecutive game because of a hamstring problem.

The Cardinals held the second NL wildcard spot going into Monday night’s game at home against Pittsburgh.

The ninetime allstar felt tightness in his left hamstring while running the bases on Wednesday in Washington.

St. Louis manager Mike Shildt said he hoped Molina can return sometime during the current sevengame homestand.

“I wish I had a definitive date,” Shildt said. “I can tell you he’s been making positives strides and everything is encouraging.”

Molina is hitting .273 with 17 homers and 61 RBIs.

Carson Kelly replaced Molina in the lineup against the Pirates.

DeGrom must wait again.

YORK» The game between the Marlins and Mets scheduled for Monday night was postponed because of the rain, again delaying the next start for New York ace Jacob deGrom.

The teams will play a singleadmission doubleheader Wednesday starting at 4:10 p.m.

DeGrom, with a major leagueleading 1.68 ERA and an 88 record after 28 starts, had been set to start Sunday at Citi Field against Philadelphia. But the Mets scratched the NL Cy Young Award contender because of rainy weather before a 64 win over the Phillies, and instead had ready to pitch Monday. He’s scheduled to start Tuesday against the Marlins and Sunday at Fenway Park against the Red Sox.

DeGrom has made 25 consecutive starts overall allowing three runs or fewer, tying the major league record set by King Cole of the 1910 Chicago Cubs.

The Marlins were rained out for the second straight day.
