FAKE TICKET HANDED OUT IN CENTENNIAL

-

If you get a parking ticket in Arapahoe County, take a deep breath and look at it closely — it could be a fake.

The sheriff’s office on Thursday said deputies are investigating a report of a fraudulent parking ticket.

The bogus ticket was placed on a vehicle parked in a private lot in the 12200 block of East Arapahoe Road, according to a news release.

“The ticket appears to be issued by the city of Englewood, but the parking lot location is in the city of Centennial,” the news release stated.

While the incident doesn’t appear to be a direct attempt to financially defraud a victim, the sheriff’s office is taking it seriously. An investigation is ongoing.

The incident appears to be isolated, the sheriff’s office said.

Cadet swimmers face charges.

COLORADO

SPRINGS» Two Air Force Academy cadets face charges stemming from a hazing incident involving the men’s swim team at the academy.

The Gazette of Colorado Springs reported the criminal charges announced by the academy Thursday are without precedent in the academy’s 64year history because previous hazing cases have been handled through its administrative discipline process.

The two seniors are accused of obstruction of justice and dereliction of duty and are two of the 11 swimmers suspended from the team in February during an investigation.

The hazing involved trying to get the team’s freshman swimmers to throw up as well as stripping and blindfolding them.

Officials say a controlled, safe shooting range is better than people shooting elsewhere. They also say improvements will be made to the range, including the installation of fire extinguishers and the permanent removal of vegetation and brush.
