Rookie QB Rosen will start Sunday in place of Bradford

-

T EMPE, ARIZ.» Rookie Josh Rosen will take over as the Cardinals’ starting quarterback this Sunday against the Seahawks.

Rosen, the 10th overall pick in this year’s draft, replaced veteran Sam Bradford in Sunday’s 1614 loss to the Bears with 4:31 left to play after three Arizona secondhalf possessions ended in turnovers.

Rosen couldn’t rally the Cardinals to a win, as he threw an interception to end his first drive and was sacked to end the second. But the rookie from UCLA completed 4of7 passes for 36 yards and apparently showed coach Steve Wilks enough for him to make a change).

Garoppolo done for year.

SANTA CLARA, CALIF.» Jimmy Garoppolo’s addition last season immediately turned around the fortunes of the 49ers. Now the 49ers will have to go back to life before Garoppolo.

The Niners announced that Garoppolo tore the ACL in his left knee while making a cut late in a loss at Kansas City, sidelining him for the rest of the season.

Ankle injury sidelines Talib.

THOUSAND OAKS, CALIF.»

Rams cornerback Aqib Talib could miss a significant amount of time because of an ankle injury.

Talib will probably need surgery to repair the injury he suffered in the second half of the Rams’ 3523 win over the Chargers on Sunday, Rams coach Sean McVay said.

Talib, who was acquired in a trade with Denver for a fifthround pick in the offseason, will get a second opinion Tuesday before finalizing plans to address the injury.

A decision whether to place Talib on injured reserve would come once there is more information available and a course of treatment is determined, McVay said.
