TWO SOUGHT IN SHOOTING, CARJACKING AT AIRPORT

A woman was carjacked early Wednesday morning after Denver police shut down a parking lot at DenverInte­rnationalA­irport to find two suspected car thieves.

The Pikes Peak parking lot, on the 24700 block of East 75th Street, was closed from 1:15 a.m. to 3:30 a.m. when officers attempted to find the suspects. When officers approached the two male suspects, they fired shots at the officers, Denver police spokesman Doug Schepman said.

Officers did not return fire, and no injuries were reported.

The incident began when two cars were reported stolen from the Hertz rental lot. Officers believe the two male suspects they approached were related to the car thefts. The cars were foundwithf­lattiresne­ar the rental lot, likely punctured by spike strips placedatth­eexitofthe lot, Schepman said.

After the suspects fled, they are believed to have forcefully taken the woman’s car.

Police officers found the woman in the 4400 block of Havana Street. She was transporte­d to thehospita­lwithacutt­o the head.

Man in building grazed by bullet as target practice goes awry.

Suspect, 19, arrested in fatal shooting of 20yearold woman.

Aman wanted as a suspect in a fatal shooting in Denver was arrested Wednesday.

Elijah Lucero, 19, was taken into custody in the 1700 block of West Jewell Avenue,saidDougSc­hepman, a police spokesman.

Lucero is being held on suspicion of firstdegre­e murder in the death of 20yearold Briseidy JimenezOrt­ega.

The victim was shot about 8 p.m. Sept. 7 in the 3900 block of Bryant Street. She was pronounced dead at Denver Health medical center.
