Want to land a sixfigure gig? Denver has more than 6,000

Jobs available in tech, sales, engineering and accounting

Employers across metro Denver have listed nearly 6,000 jobs this month that pay $100,000 or more a year, according to Ladders, a career site for highwage positions.

Dominating the posts are jobs in technology, sales, engineering, accounting and general operations, said Marc Cenedella, CEO and founder of Ladders.

“The more technologically complex society gets, the more $100,000 jobs there are,” said Cenedella, who estimates that about 16 percent of job postings in Denver are in that range.

The jobs usually require specialized skills and years of experience and more time to fill. They also tend to concentrate in larger cities, but are spread across a wide number of employers.

Leading the pack of companies posting for highpaying jobs in metro Denver is Broomfieldbased Ball Corp., which has 270 positions available. About 38 of those are on the corporate and beverage side, with the rest at Ball Aerospace & Technologies, said Ball Corp. spokeswoman Renee Robinson.

Spectrum, the recently formed cellular service arm of cable giant Charter Communications, has 202 highpaying jobs posted. Dish Network, the satellite television provider based in Douglas County, has 106

jobs posted.

Public sector employers usually don’t make the top of list for highpaying jobs. But The National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden is an exception, with 104 jobs posted at $100,000 plus.

Other employers with 50 or more jobs open at $100,000 or more a year include CenturyLink, 79 jobs available; Sierra Nevada Corp., 60; Charles Schwab, 57; HCA, 55; Arrow Electronics, 54; and KPMG, 53.

But $100,000 may not go as far as it used to, especially in metro Denver’s highcost housing market.

Attom Data Solutions estimates that someone looking to buy a home at the median price for Denver County of $430,000 would need a yearly salary of $117,148.

In May, Ladders ranked Denver 11th among metro areas for the number of highpaying job postings.

Using a ratio of highpaying jobs listed versus the number of employed workers, Denver ranked fifth in the country behind San Francisco, Boston, Washington, D.C., and Seattle.
