Changes are on the way for Broncos

Joseph considers “everything” to turn around fortunes

Long on confidence but short on specifics, Broncos coach Vance Joseph said Monday “everything is being considered” in terms of options to pull his team out of its threegame tailspin.

The Broncos dropped to 23 with a 3416 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday, a game marked by missed tackles, missed blocks and missed coaching.

“We’re not going to play how we played (Sunday),” Joseph said Monday. “We’re not going to do that. So something has got to change. You don’t play that brand of football and keep it all the same. I won’t share what we’re going to change, but there are going to be changes.”

Overhauling the roster inseason may be desired, at least by the fans, but it’s not feasible. The same goes for benching starters for backups who are reserves for a reason — they are young and not established or old and not estab lished.

That leaves shaking up the duties of the coaching staff or tinkering with the schemes.

“We’re still watching the tape and kind of figuring out the best course of action,” Joseph said. “But it’s all being considered.”

As it should be. The Baltimore game (a 2714 loss) wasn’t as close as the Broncos like to say. They presented a noble effort against Kansas City before blowing a 10 point fourth quarter lead. And the tank looked empty against the Jets.

“They played a more physical brand of football; in some spots of the game, they really outhit us (and) outran us,” Joseph said. “I thought our guys played hard, but we didn’t play as desperate as we have in the last month. We showed great grit in the (first) four games. I didn’t see the same
