DENVER POLICE SERGEANT ARRESTED

A Denver police sergeant has been arrested on suspicion of seconddegr­ee assault related to a “use of force” incident while on duty. Sgt. Joseph Rodarte is suspended without pay pending the outcome of the criminal case, police said. The incident in question happened Aug. 22, and the department’s Internal Affairs Bureau conducted a review. After consulting with the district attorney’s office, police arrested Rodarte.

TSA officers buy shirt for boy traveling to Denver.

Security Administra­tion officers bought a shirt for a shirtless boy who was traveling to Denver. The TSA says the boy and his father arrived at a checkpoint at LaGuardia Airport Wednesday and officers noticed the child did not have a shirt when he removed his coat for screening. The father told officers all their clothes were in a checked bag and he didn’t realize his son wasn’t wearing a shirt.

Officers went to an airport shop and purchased an NYPD Tshirt. An officer escorted them to their gate for their flight.

Women may have been drugged at parties, police say.

BOULDER» Police are investigat­ing the possible drugging of two women at parties on University Hill.

According to a news release, two University of Colorado students were treated early Thursday morning at Foothills Hospital after unknowingl­y ingesting drugs while drinking alcohol at parties.

Police spokeswoma­n Shannon Aulabaugh said police do not have a more specific location for the parties and do not know whether the women were drugged at the same party.

Aulabaugh said a person who slips a drug into someone’s drink without their knowledge could be subject to seconddegr­ee assault charges.

Boulder police are reminding partygoers to never leave drinks unattended or accept drinks from common, open containers. Anyone with informatio­n about this case is asked to call 3034413473 or 800222TIPS.

Armored brigade from Army post headed to Kuwait.

CARSON» The FORT

Army announced Thursday that the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team will replace a brigade from the Mississipp­i Army National Guard next spring in Kuwait as part of the regular rotation of forces.

The 3rd Armored Brigade is part of the 4th Infantry Division, based at Fort Carson. The Army declined to say how many soldiers would deploy, citing security concerns.

Fort Carson currently has four other units deployed. They are the 1st Stryker Brigade, the 2nd Infantry Brigade, the 4th Combat Aviation Brigade and the 10th Field Hospital. Another Fort Carson unit is preparing to deploy to Afghanista­n, the 4th Infantry Division’s headquarte­rs battalion.
