NORTHERN COLORADO SUSPENDS 12 PLAYERS

The University of Northern Colorado football team will be without 12 of its players for Saturday’s game when Northern Arizona University travels to Greeley.

The shorthande­d UNC Bears will take on the Northern Arizona Lumberjack­s at noon Saturday at Nottingham Field. The loss of 12 players for the Bears comes at a bad time for head coach Earnest Collins Jr. as they look to snap a sevengame losing streak where they are 07 on the season and 04 in conference play.

Northern Colorado said in a release that no studentath­lete names will be released and they would have no further comment on the suspended players.

Former USA Gymnastics president arrested.

DALLAS» As he traveled to Tennessee for a vacation with his wife and three children, former USA Gymnastics President Steve Penny had no clue a Texas grand jury had indicted him for allegedly tampering with evidence in the sexual assault investigat­ion of imprisoned gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar, an attorney for the former top official said Thursday.

The Walker County district attorney’s office says Penny was arrested Wednesday in Gatlinburg, Tenn.

The indictment alleges Penny ordered the removal of documents from the Karolyi Ranch near Huntsville, Texas, relating to Nassar’s activities­there.Thedocumen­tswere delivered to Penny at the USA Gymnastics headquarte­rs in Indianapol­is, according to the indictment. Authoritie­s have not recovered them.

McGregor wants a UFC fight at AT&T Stadium.
