Six wounded near NFL game.

Six people were wounded in a street shooting blocks from the Florida stadium where the NFL’s Houston Texans played and defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, authorities said.

Ron Lendvay, director of investigations for the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, said several shots rang out about 12:35 p.m. Sunday on a boulevard in the stadium’s general area and that five men and one woman were hit by gunfire. All were rushed to hospitals, and the sheriff’s office tweeted that three of the victims were in critical condition. The victims ranged in age from their 20s to the 70s, according to Lendvay.

The shooting broke out before the scheduled 1 p.m. start of play. Lendvay reported no link to the game, which went on without incident, and said investigators were investigating whether it was gangrelated.

Tiff makes it to the field.

Eric Reid and Malcolm Jenkins turned the fight for racial and social justice into a skirmish on the field. Reid then went on offense with his postgame comments, calling the Eagles safety and cofounder of The Players Coalition “a sellout.”

Reid split from the coalition last year because Jenkins had excluded Colin Kaepernick from meetings, and asked players if they would stop protesting during the national anthem if the NFL made a charitable donation to causes they support. Reid, who signed with the Carolina Panthers in September, said he believed he no longer had shared interests with the sociallyactive coalition and would continue on his own path with the unsigned Kaepernick, who was the first player to sit and then kneel during the anthem to protest racism and police brutality.

Missouri star Jontay Porter tore ligaments in his knee during a closed scrimmage with Southern Illinois and will miss the upcoming season.

The school said the sophomore forward tore his ACL and MCL but declined further comment.

The 6foot11 Porter averaged 9.9 points and 6.8 rebounds as a freshman last season, helping the Tigers reach the NCAA Tournament. His brother, Michael Porter Jr., now a rookie with the Nuggets, was supposed to star on that team but played in just three games before back surgery sidelined him the rest of the season.
