PRISON INMATES IN STERLING ATTACK OFFICERS
The Sterling Correctional Facility was on lockdown Wednesday after multiple inmates attacked four correctional officers, who suffered facial fractures and punctured eardrums.
The melee broke out Tuesday in the prison’s dining hall, according to a news release by Mark Fairbairn, spokesman for the Colorado Department of Corrections.
Staff members were examined and emergency treatment was administered by on-duty medical personnel. The injured officers were taken to a hospital by ambulance and other staff.
The corrections department has released few details. It’s not clear how many inmates were involved, if any of the offenders were injured or how long the attack lasted.
