Yiadom, Langley have six games to earn role for next season

When the Broncos broke for summer vacation in mid-June, they envisioned a cornerback group of Chris Harris, Bradley Roby, Tramaine Brock, Brendan Langley and Isaac Yiadom.

More than five months later, that vision became reality when Langley was promoted from the practice squad this week to replace Adam Jones, who was cut on Tuesday. Particular­ly for Yiadom and Langley, much is at stake for the final six games beginning Sunday against Pittsburgh.

A rookie third round pick, Yiadom will get an opportunit­y to prove he could be the team’s second or third cornerback in 2019.

“Exactly,” Yiadom said. “When I get my chance, I’m going to make sure I do my thing so the coaches can trust me.”

A 2017 third-round pick who played in 11 games as a rookie, Langley must show he belongs in the Broncos’ plan in any form for next year.

“It’s a pretty big opportunit­y for me,” he said. “Hopefully I can take advantage of it.”

Roby remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol; if he can’t play. Brock would start and Yiadom would play in subpackage situations.

Yiadom has been active for eight games but played only 71 snaps, including nine in the last four games. He has eight tackles.
