AILMENT SIDELINES SIXERS GUARD FULTZ

P guard Markelle Fultz is out indefinite­ly with thoracic outlet syndrome.

Fultz visited with several specialist­s to figure out what’s ailing him. The Sixers said the specialist­s have identified a compressio­n or irritation in the area between the lower neck and upper chest. Physical therapy was recommende­d for Fultz before returning to play.

Fultz’s representa­tives informed the Sixers last month that the guard would be shut down until he had been examined by specialist­s.

Fultzwasth­eNo.1pickofthe­2017 draft. He played just 14 games last season because of a shoulder injury that appeared to affect his shooting mechanics and made him one of the more scrutinize­d players in the NBA. Fultz lost his starting spot in the rotation when the Sixers traded for Jimmy Butler. The 20-year-old Fultz is averaging 8.2 points, 3.1 assists and 3.7 rebounds and is shooting 42 percent from the field.

Hawks’ Prince to miss at least three weeks.

ATLANTA» Hawks forward Taurean Prince will miss at least three weeks after injuring his left ankle in a lost to Golden State.

The team announced that an MRI revealed a ligament sprain, bone bruise and associated soft tissue inflammati­on.

Prince was injured in Monday night’s 128-111 loss to the Warriors when he came down on Shaun Livingston while shooting. The Atlanta player hobbled straight to the locker room and left the arena on crutches.

The 6-foot-8 Prince is the Hawks’ third-leading scorer at 15 points a game. A first-round pick out of Baylor, he’s in his third season with the rebuilding team.

Noah gets chance with Grizzlies.

Joakim Noah will to try revive his NBA career with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace announced that the team has signed the 6-foot-11 Noah for the rest of the season.

Noah appeared in just seven games with the New York Knicks last season and averaged 1.7 points.

Moore finalizes deal with Tigers.

DETROIT» Left-hander Matt Moore and the rebuilding Detroit Tigers finalized a $2.5 million, one-year contract that allows him to earn an additional $1 million in performanc­e bonuses.

“Matt is a veteran left-handed starting pitcher with a solid three-pitch mix that we see competing for a spot in our rotation next season,” Tigers general manager Al Avila said. “He has the ability to effectivel­y use the whole strike zone with his arsenal, and we’re excited for him to join our organizati­on.”

Moore would earn $100,000 each for 10, 14, 16, 18, 20, 24, 27 and 30 starts, and $200,000 for 32 starts.

The 29-year-old was 3-8 with a 6.79 ERA for Texas in 12 starts and 27 relief appearance­s last season.

He is 54-56 with a 4.56 ERA over eight seasons with Tampa Bay, San Francisco and Texas. The Rays drafted him in the eighth round in 2007 out of high school in New Mexico and he was 17-4 and an all-star for Tampa Bay in 2013.

Kipchoge, Ibarguen win track awards.

PARIS» Marathon world-record holder Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya and Colombian long jumper Caterine Ibarguen won the IAAF athletes of the year awards.

Kipchoge, 34, clocked 2 hours, 1 minute, 39 seconds at the Berlin Marathon in September, shaving a whopping 78 seconds off the previous world record set in the German capital in 2014 by fellow Kenyan Dennis Kimetto.

Kipchoge also won a third London Marathon victory in April.

Ibarguen dominated women’s jumping this year, winning the long and triple jumps at the Central American and Caribbean Games, the IAAF Continenta­l Cup and at the IAAF Diamond League finals.
