WASHINGTON» The District of Columbia’s attorney general issued subpoenas Friday to the National Rifle Association and its charitable foundation, putting additional pressure on the embattled gun rights organization from nonprofit regulators.
The office of Attorney General Karl Racine is seeking financial documents from the NRA and its foundation. The NRA Foundation is chartered in the District, and the NRA is registered as a nonprofit and does business there.

» Turkey has IST A NB U L begun taking delivery of Russia’s S-400 air defense system, the Turkish Defense Ministry said Friday, completing a deal that has threatened its standing in NATO and is likely to trigger sanctions from the United States.
The first components for the system arrived Friday at Murted Air Base in Ankara, the Turkish capital, the ministry said in a statement.
Turkish television stations broadcast footage of the delivery throughout the morning as Russian cargo planes arrived at the base and equipment was unloaded.
Britain raises Persian Gulf shipping threat level to highest possible.
The United Kingdom raised the threat level to the highest possible for ships operating in the Persian Gulf as tension escalates in a region accounting for a third of seaborne petroleum trade.
The British government designated the region a level-3 risk on Tuesday, the day before the British warship HMS Montrose had to stop Iranian vessels from impeding a BP Plc oil tanker as it exited the region, according to a person with knowledge of the matter.

Because they come from the federal government, the accusations add a new dimension to the allegations against Kelly, who is facing sexual abuse charges brought by Illinois prosecutors this year.

Y from celebrities and a Change.org petition with half a million signatures, U.S. Rep. Adriano Espaillat is pushing for the release of A$AP Rocky, who is behind bars in Sweden while police investigate a fight involving the rapper.
Last week, a Swedish court ordered Rocky to spend two weeks in pretrial detention while police investigate the June 30 fight in downtown Stockholm. On Friday, Espaillat, a New York Democrat, said he was pushing to help Rocky come home. — Denver Post wire services
