Focus Forward: Navigating Professional Transitions
You’ve been navigating your way through a demanding, well-established career and now you’re looking to explore options, perhaps even choose another path. Whether you decide to find a satisfying way to stay in your current career, launch into a new career—perhaps an “encore” career like the 31 million other Americans interested in pursuing that—or create the next chapter in your postcareer life where work is no longer a predominant focus, your goal is to create a future that’s both fulfilling and purposeful.
But with a new direction comes many questions: Where do I begin? How do I find meaning and passion? How and when do I retire or transition to a new career? No matter where you find yourself at the critical juncture of later career transition, Focus Forward helps you ask relevant questions and determine the best course of action, whether shifting careers or considering retirement. If you’re a working career professional looking to transition to something new, consider Focus Forward— an integrated program thoughtfully designed for working professionals.
Offered by the University of Denver, Focus Forward provides new frameworks, tools, and strategies that help you map out the future you desire. Start with the Planning for Change workshop (offered in October and January), in which you’ll explore significant life transitions, examine the 10 important considerations for a successful transition, and develop a plan for moving forward. This workshop helps stimulate your thinking about a later career transition and helps you chart a course ahead. The workshop is designed around The Hudson Institute’s core model known as the Cycle of Renewal™, a powerful learning tool for individuals navigating transition and change.
Register for the Planning for Change workshop starting October 22 on campus at the University of Denver at universitycollege.du.edu/ focusforward.
