GASOL COMPLETES RARE DOUBLE; SPAIN WINS WORLD CUP

Spain has captured its second World Cup title, defeating Argentina 95-75 on Sunday to give Marc Gasol a rare double title year.

Tournament MVP Ricky Rubio scored 20 points and Sergio Llull added 15 for Spain (8-0), the ninth team to make it through a World Cup or world championsh­ip unbeaten.

The Toronto Raptors center became the second player to win an NBA title and a FIBA world gold medal in the same year, joining Lamar Odom — who did it for the Lakers and USA Basketball in 2010.

France defeated Australia 67-59 on Sunday. It was France’s second straight bronze medal in the event.

NFL to meet with Antonio Brown accuser Monday.

The NFL plans to meet Monday with a woman who says she was raped by the New England Patriots’ Antonio Brown.

A person with direct knowledge of the situation confirmed the meeting to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivit­y of the situation.

Britney Taylor accused Brown of rape and sexual assault in a federal lawsuit filed Tuesday in the Southern District of Florida. Brown has denied the allegation­s by his former trainer.

Toronto beats Rapids 3-2, spoiling Fraser’s homecoming.

Jonathan Osorio broke a tie in the 70th minute and Toronto FC beat Colorado 3-2 to spoil Rapids coach Robin Fraser’s homecoming. Fraser, a former Toronto assistant, had won three straight since taking charge of the Rapids (10-15-6) on Aug. 25.

Chile’s Niemann wins by 6 shots at The Greenbrier.

W.VA.» Joaquin Niemann became SPRINGS, the first player from Chile to win on the PGA Tour, shooting a 6-under 64 on Sunday for a six-stroke victory in A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier. The 20-year-old Niemann entered the final round of the season opener with a two-stroke lead and held off challenges from Tom Hoge and Richy Werenski. Jerry Kelly played bogey-free Sunday at Warwick Hills and closed with a 4-under 68 for a two-shot victory in the Ally Challenge, his second victory this year on the Champions tour.

Seattle’s Omar Narvaez hit a ball off the top of the wall in the bottom of the 10th inning that was ruled a home run by umpires. The ball did not clear the fence, and had a replay review been conducted, Narvaez would have been awarded a double. The Los Angeles Angels say the eight-time all-star Mike Trout will have surgery on his right foot this week because of Morton’s neuroma, a thickening of tissue around a nerve leading to toes that causes pain.

Trout finished with a career-high 45 home runs, 104 RBIs and a .291 batting average, putting him in contention to win his third AL MVP award. Los Angeles has been eliminated from postseason contention.

Gaethje stops “Cowboy” in UFC.

Gaethje, who was an AllAmerica wrestler at Northern Colorado, connected with a right hook late in the first round that buckled his opponent’s knees. A flurry of blows from Gaethje (21-2) dropped Denver’s Cerrone (36-13) to the ground, forcing the referee to call the fight at 4:18 of the round.
