2 DIE IN CRASH WITH TRUCK, MOTORCYCLE

Police in Thornton are investigat­ing a double fatal crash involving a motorcycle and pickup truck.

The collision occurred around 8 p.m. Saturday on East 120th Avenue at Bellaire Way.

The motorcycli­st and the driver of the truck were killed. Their names, ages and gender were not released. It’s too early to know what caused the crash, police said.

4 people shot, transporte­d to hospitals.

Four people were shot early in an incident early Sunday morning in Adams County and taken to local hospitals, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

Two victims sustained lifethreat­ening injuries, the sheriff’s office said on Facebook on Sunday night.

Deputies responded to a call of shots fired at 1:45 a.m. in the 7100 block of Ruth Way, according to Sgt. Paul Gregory of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

More than 100 people were fleeing from a large gathering when deputies arrived, the sheriff’s office said on Facebook.

Crews battle growing fire.

Firefighte­rs continue to battle the Decker fire through dry conditions and low humidity, as it grew an additional 200 acres Saturday.

As of Sunday afternoon, the Decker fire burning 2 miles south of Salida remained at 5% containmen­t and 6,155 acres, according to the incident informatio­n system, but officials said firefighte­rs made significan­t progress Saturday. That includes improving fire line options and using bulldozers to improve roads, with more than 800 responders battling the fire.

Officials cautioned that residents could see more smoke above the fire Monday.

Some evacuation­s were lifted for residences in the area Sunday afternoon. — Staff and wire reports
