PEDESTRIAN KILLED IN LIGHT RAIL CRASH

A pedestrian was killed Saturday morning after a light rail crash in Denver’s Baker neighborho­od, police said on Twitter.

The incident prompted RTD to suspend light rail service in the area, affecting all C, D, E, F and H line trains for several hours.

The crash occurred in the area of West Bayaud Avenue and South Cherokee Street, police said.

Informatio­n on the victim was not released.

Pedestrian struck by vehicle, killed in Fort

Collins. An adult male died Friday night after he was hit by a driver while crossing the street in Fort Collins, police said in a news release.

The crash occurred about 8:45 p.m. in the 200 block of West Harmony Road. Police said the pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, was crossing West Harmony Road when an 81-year-old woman driving a minivan hit him. The man was not crossing at a crosswalk, authoritie­s said.

The pedestrian was taken to the Medical Center of the Rockies where he was pronounced dead, the news release said. The driver of the minivan was not injured, and police do not suspect speed or alcohol to be a factor.

fatal hit-and-run. Aurora police are investigat­ing a fatal hit-andrun that occurred Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at 6:40 a.m. near East Iliff Avenue and Interstate 225, police said. A woman was crossing the road to contact the other driver after being involved in a two-car crash when she was hit, police said.

The woman was transporte­d to a hospital, where she died as a result of her injuries, police said.

The person who hit her fled the scene but was later located, authoritie­s said.

Earlier Saturday, police were looking for a black Nissan Altima that could be from 2015 through 2018. The vehicle’s driver-side bumper will be missing and damaged, and the driver’s side mirror also is missing, police said. Longmont police seek suspect in arson that damaged church. Longmont police are seeking a man in connection to an arson that caused more than $5,000 in damage at Central Longmont Presbyteri­an Church, according to a news release from Deputy Chief Jeff Satur.

Longmont fire crews responded to the church, 402 Kimbark St., at about 5:40 a.m. Sunday, according to the release. No one was inside the church when crews arrived.

Detectives and fire investigat­ors later determined a man broke the window of a door into the church and used an accelerant to set the fire, the release states.
