JEWISH CENTER EVACUATED; OTHERS SENT THREATS

» The Albany Jewish Community Center was evacuated and searched Sunday morning after it and several other centers around the country received anonymous emails with vague threats that mentioned a bomb, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.

Cuomo went to the Albany center after police evacuated about 100 people, searched the building with dogs and declared it safe.

Similar vague threats were emailed to about 18 Jewish Community Centers around the country, according to Cuomo’s office.

Cuomo said the FBI is investigat­ing where the threats originated. State Director of Emergency Management Michael Kopy said the emails were sent to people with Jewish Community Center accounts, but he declined to specify which centers were targeted.

Gas tank explosion kills 4 in North Macedonia.

SKOPJE» Four people, including three children, were killed and six other members of the same family were seriously injured when a gas tank for cooking exploded in their home Sunday in northern Macedonia, authoritie­s said.

Police said that the three children — an 8-year-old boy and girls ages 9 and 11 — died instantly when the gas tank exploded in the village of Romanovce. Firefighte­rs later extinguish­ed the blaze.

The six surviving injured include four women, one of whom is pregnant, and a 10-year-old boy.

Two women, aged 30 and 50, a man and the 10year-old boy, were in critical condition, the intensive care unit head, Ilir Hasani, told local media.

Nine are dead in Turkey after 5.7 earthquake.

» Nine people were killed in eastern Turkey by a magnitude 5.7 earthquake early Sunday morning, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said.

At least three of the dead were children, according to Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu. The health minister later said at least 37 people were injured, including nine in critical but not life-threatenin­g condition.

Iran’s official IRNA news agency said at least 75 people had been injured inside Iran, six of whom were hospitaliz­ed.

Iraqi officials: 1 protester shot dead. » One

BAGHD A D protester was shot dead and at least six wounded in renewed violence between anti-government demonstrat­ors and security forces in central Baghdad on Sunday, Iraqi officials said.

Protesters continue to occupy central Tahrir square and adjacent Jumhuriyah bridge, which leads to the fortified Green Zone.

Boys, 13, charged with murder in library fire.

» Murder POR T ER V ILLE, CALIF . charges have been filed against two 13-yearold boys suspected of starting a blaze that killed two firefighte­rs at a central California library.

Police said the boys were arrested after they were seen running from Portervill­e City Library shortly after flames erupted on the afternoon of Feb. 18.

Firefighte­rs Patrick Jones, 25, and Raymond Figueroa, 35, were killed as they battled the flames that gutted the library in the town about 50 miles north of Bakersfiel­d in the San Joaquin Valley.
