BOLD WOMEN, CHANGED HISTORY
THROUGH FEB. 28, 2021» Following International Women’s Day on March 8, History Colorado and other institutions are celebrating the centennial of women’s right to vote. “Bold Women. Change History.” debuted last week at History Colorado Center and runs through Feb. 28, 2021, billed as America’s most comprehensive, statewide commemoration of the largest votingrights expansion in U.S. history. It features artifacts, stories and dozens of events such as a speaker series with free, on-site child care. Cost is $4-$8 for the exhibit (guided tour included). “Myth on Trial,” a partnership between the Molly Brown House and the Center for Colorado Women’s History, asks you to become the jury and decide what’s true in history from 7 to 9 p.m. March 19 at 1310 Bannock St. ($17; cash drinks). And on March 13, check out living-history actor Mary Jane Bradbury as Jeannette Rankin, the first woman to be elected to Congress, free at 2 p.m. at Littleton Bemis Public Library, 6014 S. Less is more on St. Patty’s Day. FRIDAY-TUESDAY» March 17 is shaping up to be the shakiest St. Patrick’s Day in memory — and not just because of Saturday’s downtown parade cancellation. But revelry takes many forms, and if you feel comfortable going out you’ll find plenty of ways to celebrate with live music. Irish-song institution Gobs o’ Phun is marking 25 years with a March 13 Swallow Hill set and a residency at Clancy’s in Wheat Ridge, March 14, 15 and 17 (heygobs.weebly.com). Relative newcomer Avourneen — led by Adam Goldstein and hot off a sold-out album release at the Clocktower Cabaret — is playing multiple Celtic-music shows through March 22 from Colorado Springs to Evanston, Wyo. From The Temptations to Lizzo. FRIDAY-SATURDAY» The 38th annual spring concerts from Denver Gay Men’s Chorus arrive March 13-14 at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House with a broad view of black-America’s influential musical legacy. As evidenced by the title, “Motown and More! From The Tempta
tions to Lizzo,” the chorus’ 120 members will tackle songs spanning Aretha Franklin and Marvin Gaye’s early work to Bruno Mars and Beyoncé.
