ORIOLES’ MANCINI HAS COLON CANCER

BALTIMORE» Orioles outfielder Trey Mancini is undergoing chemothera­py for stage 3 colon cancer and expects to miss the season if major leaguers return this summer.

Mancini had a malignant tumor removed shortly before turning 28 on March 18. He has been undergoing chemothera­py since April 13.

“My treatment will take six months — every two weeks for six months,” Mancini wrote in a story posted Tuesday on The Players Tribune. “If baseball returns in 2020, it will probably be without me.”

Stage 3 means is defined as a cancer that has grown into nearby tissue or lymph nodes.

MLB lets teams decide on ticket refund policies. YORK» Major

League Baseball told teams on Tuesday they could decide their own ticket refund policies.

Spring training was suspended on March 12 and the regular season was delayed from its scheduled March 26 start because of the new coronaviru­s pandemic. Teams have treated the missed games as postponeme­nts and not announced refund policies.

Two fans sued MLB, the 30 teams and ticket companies last week in federal court in Los Angeles, seeking refunds. The suit asks for class-action status.

YORK, cornerback Bashaud Breeland was arrested on several charges Tuesday in South Carolina, including possessing marijuana or hash, driving with an open container of alcohol and resisting arrest.

Giants’ player, defensive coach Svare dies. N.J.»

EAST RUTHERFORD, Harland Svare, a starting linebacker on the Giants’ 1956 NFL championsh­ip team and later the team’s defensive coach while still a player, has died, He was 89.

The Yampa Valley Funeral Home in Steamboat Springs reported that Svare died on April 4 on its website.

Colorado Snowsports Museum Hall of Fame inductees include artist Niehues. The Colorado Snowsports Museum Hall of Fame in Vail announced its Class of 2020 inductees, including Colorado native and ski resort trail map artist James Niehues. Niehues will be joined by former U.S. Ski team member and Aspen Valley Ski Club supporter Dave Stapleton
