ATF arrests man in Breckenridge
A 22-year-old wanted in connection with the burning of a police precinct in Minneapolis was captured this week in Breckenridge by federal authorities.
Dylan Robinson was one of several suspects wanted for burning the police station on May 28 during protests over the death of George Floyd, and he was apprehended by agents from the U.S.
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Robinson was informed of his charge — one count of aiding and abetting arson — Tuesday afternoon by a U.S. District Court judge in Denver. He could face between five and 20 years in prison if convicted.
Authorities identified Robinson through surveillance footage from a camera attached to the Minneapolis Police Department’s third precinct, according to an
ATF criminal complaint. The 22-year-old was seen on camera lighting a Molotov cocktail as well as setting off a fire inside the building, the complaint alleges.
After ATF officials released photos of several suspects from the incident, a woman contacted federal officials to say she recognized his face. Authorities eventually tracked Robinson’s phone to the Denver area, and he was arrested at 2 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Airport Road in
Breckenridge.
Federal authorities have been cracking down on those involved in the violent protests that consumed Minneapolis in the wake of Floyd’s death at the hands of Minneapolis police officers on Memorial Day Weekend, a killing caught on video that sparked a national movement against police brutality.
The ATF this week released photos of 14 suspects and announced a $70,000 reward to help identify people believed to be involved with setting fires in the Twin Cities.
A 23-year-old St. Paul, Minn., man was charged last week with aiding and abetting arson for his role in the precinct fire, while a 25-year-old was charged Monday in connection with a fire set at a pawn shop.
