Rockies begin refunding fans for all 2020 single-game tickets

- By Patrick Saunders

The Rockies have begun the process of refunding fans for purchases of singlegame tickets for all games during a 2020 season drastically altered by the coronavirus pandemic.

In April, the club refunded tickets for games that were canceled in April and May.

According to an email sent to fans who purchased single-game tickets, the Rockies are refunding single-game purchases for both the ticket price and service charges for any impacted 2020 events. Refunds will be completed in the next three weeks to the credit or debit card that was used for the original purchase.

According to the Rockies’ website, refunds will be in effect for all home games at Coors Field, all the way through September.

Last week, Major League Baseball announced it would hold a 60-game season beginning July 23-24. Fans, however, will not be allowed in ballparks when the season opens. There remains a slight chance that a limited number of fans would be allowed to attend games at Coors Field later in the season.

For season-ticket holders, as well as those who purchased a mini-plan, rented a suite or purchased tickets as part of a group, the Rockies have set the following policy:

“(Fans) will automatically receive credit for games not played. In appreciation, we are including a 10% bonus credit that will be added to any credits remaining on these accounts once the 2020 schedule is finalized. This bonus credit can be used towards additional tickets for any 2020 regular-season home game or carried forward to the 2021 season. Additional details have been communicated directly to these customers.”

The Rockies’ website does not spell out an option for refunds for season-ticket holders, but they are eligible for refunds if they so desire.

“The Rockies are in fact currently offering a refund option to Plan Holders for either the full season or April/May games,” the ticket office informed season-ticket holders this spring after the season was postponed. “If you would like to request a refund, rather than the credit +10% bonus offer, please let us know and we can send you the refund request form to be completed.”
