It’s not entirely Trump’s fault

Re: “American Horror, starring Donald Trump,” July 14 opinion column

In regards to Charles Blow’s column, I agree that President Donald Trump has not handled the health crisis effectively. But I also think blaming one individual is illogical and unreal.

The ridiculous shortage of personal protective equipment for health care workers was caused by several past administrations who did not plan for a serious national health crisis. Preparation for such an event takes the coordination of multiple levels of government and leaders.

When as dramatic event such as COVID-19 takes place, the lack of preparation comes to the surface and there are multiple leaders and industries to blame, not just the sitting president.

We all get what we deserve: We elect selfcentered, unqualified leaders based on internet non-truths and negative campaign commercials, and so we get the non-fact based, too-late decisions we all have to deal with.
