Weld County Sheriff’s Office taking new look at 1996 murder

Twenty-four years after she was last seen alive, the Weld County Sheriff’s Office is taking another look into the 1996 murder of Fort Collins resident Sheryl “Sherry” Hahn Parker.

The sheriff’s office said in a news release that it is seeking informatio­n from the public because of a lack of cooperatio­n from its primary suspect.

Parker, 41, was last seen the night of July 17, 1996, when she checked herself into a budget motel. She was at the motel to distance herself from her husband, Glen “Ed” Edward Parker, whom she was

in the process of divorcing, the release said.

She was reported missing the next day, and on July 26 her body was found floating in the St. Vrain River.

An autopsy ruled that her death was a homicide caused by blunt force trauma.

Her husband, the primary suspect in her murder, refused to speak to law enforcemen­t about the case.

He resides in unincorpor­ated Weld County between Fort Collins and Ault and is married to one of Parker’s close friends, the release said.

“Due to a lack of cooperatio­n by Ed, investigat­ors are hopeful someone who knew the couple 24 years ago might know or remember something and come forward with new informatio­n,” the release said.
