Two brothers kiLLed in shooting in Lakewood

A pair of teen brothers died after they were shot Sunday night in the parking lot of a Lakewood Walmart.

Eighteen-year-old Damian Wikoff and 17-yearold Dillon Wikoff died at a hospital after being shot at 8:23 p.m. in the parking lot at 7455 W. Colfax Ave., according to a news release from the Lakewood

Police Department.

Police found the brothers in the parking lot after responding to reports of a shooting and administer­ed medical care until paramedics arrived.

The suspect fled and police do not have a descriptio­n of the shooter or any vehicle the shooter might have been in, the news release said.

Grass fire breaks out in Adams County. A grass fire was contained Monday night in an industrial area of Adams County.

The fire broke out at about 6:20 p.m. near East 48th Avenue and Ivy Street, releasing plumes of smoke into and already hazy sky.

Multiple fire agencies and department­s, including Denver fire, assisted the South Adams County Fire Department in quickly containing the blaze.

At about 7:30 p.m., firefighte­rs remained on the scene working on hot spots and flareups. There were not immediate reports of injuries or damage to property.

The cause of the fire is under investigat­ion.

Horse found shot, killed. A horse was apparently shot dead overnight Sunday in Adams County and an investigat­ion is underway.

The incident happened between 9 p.m. Sunday and 3 a.m. Monday near Bennett in the area of East 56th Avenue and Peterson

Road, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

“We are in the preliminar­y stages of the investigat­ion but it does appear a horse was struck by gunfire,” the sheriff’s office said.
