AURORA » A female motorcyclist died Friday evening after being struck by a car, according to police.

At 6: 30 p. m. Friday, police and Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a crash involving a motorcycle and Honda Pilot at South Aurora Parkway and East Arapahoe Road. Their initial investigation found that the driver in the Honda made a left turn from westbound Arapahoe Road and failed to yield to the motorcycle’s right of way.

The motorcycle driver, whose identity has not been released, “tragically succumbed to their injuries at the scene,” police said. The other driver was treated for minor injuries.

Police do not suspect drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and no one has been arrested or charged, police said.

The previous record was set in 2012, when Denver experienced 73 days with temperatures in the 90s. This year, Denver also recorded its latest 100- degree day on the calendar ever, on Sept. 5.
