White inactive for Patriots following accident that kills his father. Sun beats Aces in Game 1; Lynx/ Storm game ppd. due to virus.

SEATTLE » The father of New England Patriots’ running back James White was killed Sunday in a car crash in Florida, authorities said.

The wreck that killed Tyrone White happened around 1 p. m. in Cooper City, Fla., the Broward County Sheriff’s Office reported.

White, who was the captain of the Miami- Dade Police Department, was pronounced dead at the scene. NBC reported White’s mother is in serious condition.

James White was inactive for Sunday’s game against Seattle.
