Re: “Cover the Hunter Biden news,” Oct. 21 letter to the editor

The letter writer is absolutely correct when he states, “America is best served by a press that is unbiased and will diligently investigate and report on important stories regardless of which political party or individuals are the subject.”

That’s exactly what major news outlets ( including The Denver Post) have done. Problems with the New York Post piece are many. One of the reporters who helped write the stories refused to have his name attached as a byline.

The sources for the still- to- be- independentlyverified information against the Bidens are Steve Bannon ( former Trump advisor, currently under federal investigation) and Rudy Giuliani, the president’s personal lawyer.

Giuliani is quoted as saying that he took the information to the New York Post because “either nobody else would take it, or if they took it, they would spend all the time they could to try to contradict it ... ” The Wall Street Journal acknowledges that they “couldn’t independently verify” the allegations.

Last month, two Republican- led Senate committees found no wrong- doing by Joe Biden regarding foreign policy in Ukraine.

This late allegation against a candidate in a close election simply doesn’t pass the “sniff test.” Let alone an investigation by professional journalists. The Denver Post is adhering to long- standing professional standards. Thanks to them!
