“City Edition” jerseys unveiled
There is no need to improve upon perfection. But the Denver Nuggets are at least going to try.
The Nuggets released the third and final version of their “City Edition” jerseys Thursday on Twitter.
The latest model alters the primary colors of two previous designs inspired by the classic “Rainbow Skyline” uniforms of the 1980s and early 90s. The jerseys, featuring “flatirons red” and gold, will be worn during the 2020- 21 season, completing a series first launched during the 2018- 19 campaign.
“The flatirons red color nods to the landscape of Colorado and is a universal color for goodwill, which captures the meaning behind the jersey,” the team said in a news release. “The uniform also includes the name of our unique home city, Denver, the center of Mile High Basketball. As seen in past iterations, the uniform includes the Western Union jersey patch on the heels of the renewal of the partnership announced Wednesday.”
The franchise’s original Rainbow Skyline uniforms were worn by the team from the 198182 season through 1992- 93, and remain wildly popular with fans.
“The 2019- 20 City Edition Skyline uniform celebrated the iconic neighborhoods and fabric of the city along with the unique fanbase,” the team said in its release. “The 2020- 21 edition will conclude the Skyline theme with a design that celebrates the City and Mile High Basketball, inspiring a culture of diversity and building bridges through basketball.”
