THRee Heil Valley RancH tRails Reopen South Denver shooting victim is ID’d.

BOULDER COUNTY» Heil Valley Ranch’s Picture Rock Trail, Wild Turkey Trail and Ponderosa Loop all are open, Boulder County Parks & Open Space has announced.

According to a tweet from a ranger, visitors should expect sections of ice between the 1.5 and 3 mile markers. Geer Canyon access is closed indefinite­ly for CalWood fire rehabilita­tion work.

Visitors are asked to remain on the trail and be respectful of any remaining closures in the CalWood Fire burn area. The fire burned through Heil Valley Ranch and destroyed bridges, fences, benches and signs in the park.

The park will be in recovery for many months, and trails may need to close for restoratio­n, according to Boulder County.

Four dead in recent metro-area shootings.

Four people have died in a spate of shootings across the metro area.

A boy was killed Tuesday night in a shooting near DCIS at Ford Elementary School. No arrest has been made, and the boy’s name has not been released.

A man was shot and killed in Hale while on Colfax early Wednesday. The case is being investigat­ed as a homicide.

Police also responded to shootings at Broadway and Irvington as well as Broadway and Virginia on Tuesday; one person was shot in each case.

Lakewood police are searching for a suspect after a 29-year-old man was killed at the Blue Sky Motel on Colfax. The name of the victim has not been released.

Aurora police responded Monday night to Alton Street, where they found a man with a gunshot wound. The man was transporte­d to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The Arapahoe County coroner’s office has not released the identity of the victim.

A man fatally shot Friday afternoon has been identified Wednesday by the Denver medical examiner’s office.

Paul Baca, 45, was shot at West Alameda Avenue and South Raritan Street about 5:45 p.m. A private vehicle took Baca to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The medical examiner’s autopsy determined Baca died from a gunshot wound. The manner of death is homicide, the Denver medical examiner said.
