Buck Won’t run for Senate in 2022

- — Staff and wire reports

U.S. Rep. Ken Buck said on Twitter on Thursday that he would not run for the U.S. Senate in 2022. Buck represents Colorado’s 4th Congressional District.

The Republican from Windsor said he was “humbled by the interest and support.”

Buck ran for Senate in 2010, losing to Democrat Michael Bennet.

Buck recently won an election for his fourth term in the House after beating Democrat Ike McCorkle in the 2020 election.

Buck is the current chairman of Colorado’s Republican Party.

This week, he joined other lawmakers to reintroduce legislation to increase penalties for those involved with rioting. The bill is also known as the Blocking Rioters and Insurrectionists from our Cities to Keep us Safe, or BRICKS Act.

“The law is on the books now,” Buck told the Greeley Tribune. “All this does is increase the penalty. It doesn’t change the nature of the law. We’ve had this law for decades. It hasn’t been used in the past by federal authorities to target peaceful protests, and it won’t be used in the future. If it was, it would be thrown out of court. It will be used to stop the destruction of property and harming individuals.”
