If Sutton is back to 100% after last September’s torn ACL, the Broncos’ passing game will go through him. He is expected to play against the Rams in his first game since being injured against Pittsburgh. Training camp has been a success for Sutton in that he hasn’t been held out for injury and there have been days when he looked like his 2019 Pro Bowl version. Playing in a preseason game will be the next corner turned for Sutton.

Miller will see the field for the first time since the December 2019 finale against the Raiders and just about a year removed from his ankle injury that robbed him of the ’20 season. The Broncos have waited to play on a natural grass surface to give Miller a test drive for Week 1. Coach Vic Fangio has managed Miller’s practices (multiple off days) and don’t expect to see him for more than 10-12 snaps Saturday, but this is a big step for No. 58.

The injury to Michael Ojemudia (hamstring) and continued rehabilitation of Essang Bassey (ACL) has created an opening for the fifth cornerback spot entering the regular season. The top four of Ronald Darby, Kyle Fuller, Pat Surtain II and Bryce Callahan are set, but Hairston could have as many as three quarters to show the coaching staff he merits a roster spot ahead of rookies Kary Vincent and Mac Mccain III.

Okwuegbunam is expected to see his first action since tearing his ACL last November against Atlanta. If he’s ready to go in the regular season, he adds a potentially dynamic dimension to the Broncos’ passing game, able to line up in the slot or out wide and win 1-on-1 matchups. Okwuegbunam figures to play with the starters since Noah Fant (leg) will sit out.

Cleveland ended last season with momentum and figured to have a role as a special teams core player. But he has been ultra-quiet this training camp and preseason (no catches in two games) and he may rank behind Trinity Benson and Kendall Hinton in the competition for the sixth receiver spot. Cleveland needs to make a play offensively or on special teams to help his status.
