Humphrey scores 4 TDS for Grizzlies

GREELEY» Cam Humphrey threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score and Montana rolled to a 35-0 win over Northern Colorado on Saturday.

Humphrey had a 20-yard scoring run in the first quarter for the second score for the Grizzlies (7-2, 4-2 Big Sky Conference); ranked 10th in the FCS coaches poll.

The two early scores were set up when Northern Colorado turned the ball over on an intercepti­on and downs.

Humphrey connected with Cole Grossman for a 21-yard touchdown to open the scoring and hooked up with Samuel Akrem for 42-yards late in the second for a 21-0 lead at halftime.

Akem had a 17-yard scoring reception in the third quarter. The Grizzlies cashed in on a fumble with Isiah Childs’ 2yard run in the fourth quarter.

Humphrey was 19 of 25 for 233 yards.

Northern Colorado (3-7, 2-5) had two turnovers, gave up the ball on downs twice and was 3 of 16 on third down.

Montana got its first shutout since 2011.

Colorado Mines 28, CSU Pueblo 12. PUEBLO» Colorado School of Mines ground out a 28-12 road win at CSU Pueblo, winning the rivalry meeting between two of the three teams tied for first in the RMAC.

The Orediggers (9-1, 7-1 RMAC) will play for at least a share of the RMAC title in their regular-season finale next week thanks to the win over the Thunderwol­ves (6-4, 6-2 RMAC). The two teams entered week 10 in a three-way tie for first with Western Colorado.

Gregg Brandon won his 100th career game as a head coach with his 55th win at Mines; he also was 44-30 at Bowling Green from 200308.

Mines’ Nolan Reeve recorded nine total tackles, three sacks, and two forced fumbles, while Jaden Williams had 14 total tackles.

For the offense, Michael Zeman had three touchdowns. John Matocha was 16-of-21 for 189 yards and two touchdowns.
