ANAHEIM, CALIF.» Righthande­r Noah Syndergaar­d has agreed to terms on $21 million, one-year deal with the Los Angeles Angels, leaving the New York

Mets for a lucrative fresh start on the West Coast.

The Angels announced the deal Tuesday night for the 29-year-old Syndergaar­d, a dominant and intimidati­ng starter when at the height of his talents during his seven years with the Mets.

The long-haired, 6foot-6 Texan earned the nickname “Thor” with his powerful pitch selection and mound presence, but injuries have hampered a career that includes 47 victories, a 3.32 ERA and one All-star selection in 2016.

Blue Jays, Berrios agree on seven-year, $131 million deal.

TORONTO» The Toronto Blue Jays have reached an agreement with pitcher Jose Berríos to a seven-year $131 million deal pending a physical, a person familiar with the the matter told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

The Blue Jays won the pursuit for pitcher Berríos at the July trade deadline by acquiring the righthande­r from the Minnesota Twins and he’ll join the team if the physical checks out. He was due to become an free agent after the 2022 season.

The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because there was no official announceme­nt and they were not authorized to speak bout the deal.

Berrios went 5-4 with a 3.58 ERA in 12 starts with Toronto. The 27-year-old Berríos was Minnesota’s unquestion­ed ace, a twotime All-star who has been as durable as any pitcher in the game. The contract will become only the third $100 million-plus deal in Blue Jays history.

Tigers officially add LHP Rodríguez.

The Detroit Tigers plan to be relatively aggressive in free agency and they proved that while giving their rebuild a boost, adding left-hander Eduardo Rodríguez to their rotation with a $77 million investment.

The team announced Tuesday that it agreed to terms on a five-year contract with Rodríguez.

“Eduardo was clearly one of our top targets in this year’s free agent pitching class, and we are extremely happy to add someone of his caliber to our rotation,” Tigers general manager Al Avila said.

The 28-year-old, hardthrowi­ng Rodríguez joins a pair of 24-year-old starters, Casey Mize and Tarik Skubal, on a third-place team that finished with 77 wins for its best season in five years.

The A.J. Hinch-led Tigers know they have a lot of catching up to do after trailing the AL Central champion Chicago White Sox by 16 games.

Rojos: No “second thoughts” on N.Y. move.

NEW YORK» Luis Rojas says it was an easy decision to put on Yankees pinstripes so soon after getting dismissed by the New York Mets.

“There wasn’t any second thought,” he said.

Let go last month after his second year of managing the Mets, Rojas was announced Monday as the Yankees’ new third base coach. Rojas talked to a few teams, he said Tuesday, but quickly found a match with manager Aaron Boone and the Yankees.
