David Cutcliffe won’t return for a 15th season as Duke’s coach after the school announced a “mutual agreement for separation” on Sunday following the Blue Devils’ winless Atlantic Coast Conference record.

The school’s announceme­nt came a day after the Blue Devils (3-9, 0-8) closed a three-win season with a 4710 home loss to Miami. That marked the first winless slate for Duke in league play under Cutcliffe, who transforme­d the Blue Devils from one of the nation’s worst performers into a regular bowl contender and even claimed a division title in the ACC in 2013 before the program slid badly in the past two seasons.

Cowboys’ outbreak worsens. The Dallas Cowboys are going virtual with meetings leading into Thursday’s game at New Orleans with COVID-19 infections on the rise again within the team.

NBA fines Carter, Dedmon. NEW YORK» Orlando Magic center-forward Wendell Carter Jr. and Miami Heat center Dewayne Dedmon were fined by the NBA. Carter was fined $35,000 for “forcefully throwing “his protective glasses at a game official. Dedmon was docked $15,000 for kicking a seat cushion into the stands. Both incidents were in games Saturday.

Canadiens fire GM. MONTREAL» The Montreal Canadiens fired general manager Marc Bergevin and two other executives amid on-ice struggles just months after advancing to the Stanley Cup Final. Bergevin was in his 10th season as the team’s GM.

Sharks waive Kane. SAN JOSE, CALIF.» The San Jose Sharks have placed forward Evander Kane on waivers and plan to send him to the AHL if he isn’t claimed by another team.

George Tech fires 3 coaches. ATLANTA» Georgia Tech coach Geoff Collins fired the offensive coordinato­r, co-defensive coordinato­r and safeties coach and cornerback­s coach following a disappoint­ing 3-9 season.

Snow 2, World Cup 1 at Lake Louise. LAKE LOUISE, ALBERTA» What was supposed to be a three-race World Cup weekend turned into a one-race weekend in Lake Louise with the cancellati­on of Sunday’s men’s super-g because of too much snow. Just Saturday’s downhill was run.

LONDON» Frank Williams, the founder and former team principal of Formula One’s Williams Racing, has died. He was 79.
