NO. 10 LOUISVILLE BEATS CSU WOMEN

FORT COLLINS» Ahlana Smith and Kianna Smith led hot-shooting No. 10 Louisville with 11 points apiece as the Cardinals won their fifth straight by beating Colorado State 71-56 on Sunday.

The Cardinals (5-1) shot 52.8% from the floor in a contest they never trailed. Emily Engstler finished with 10 points and eight boards.

Colorado State (5-1) was led by Sydney Mech and Karly Murphy with 12 points apiece. Cali Clark added 10 points as the Rams hosted a ranked nonconfere­nce team for the first time since No. 8 Connecticu­t visited Moby Arena in 2004.

Colorado State made things interestin­g in the third quarter by cutting the deficit to 10 points on a layup from Mech.

CU 67, Wisconsin 51. On Sunday, the CU women (7-0) put their undefeated mark on the line against Wisconsin (2-5) in the finale of the Rocky Mountain Hoops Classic, completing a demanding early stretch in which the Buffs played five games in 10 days.

Buffs’ senior guard Finau responded on Sunday, hitting two key 3-pointers before finishing 4-for-7 with a season-high 10 points to go with six rebounds.

CU’S Mya Hollingshe­d posted the 19th double-double of her career with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

NO. 19 UCLA 73, St. John’s 65. ESTERO, FLA.» Iimar’i Thomas scored eight of her 19 points in the last six-plus minutes and UCLA (4-2) broke away late to beat St. John’s (3-4).

No. 4 Kansas 96, Iona 83. LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLA.» Christian Braun had 18 points and seven rebounds and Kansas beat Iona 96-83 on Sunday in the first meeting between Hall of Fame coaches Bill Self (KU) and Rick Pitino.
