Dentist Warns Against Pulling Teeth Without Another Opinion

Denver Dentist saves supposedly hopeless teeth for patients on a daily basis

-

Many people have been told that their teeth are hopeless and should be pulled and replaced with implant therapy, dentures or some combination of those treatments. Often times, these individuals can indeed save their teeth (if they want to). However, despite the fact that some patients may be uncomfortable with the treatment recommended by their dentist, they still proceed without getting a second opinion.

Dr. Charles Barotz, who has been practicing dentistry in downtown Denver since 1980, is adamant that patients should seek multiple opinions before proceeding with major dental treatment, especially when it comes to extracting all of their teeth, “In my experience, many offices are too flippant about pulling teeth and placing implants when they could possibly be saved. As a dentist, my mission is to help people save their teeth when they can. If a tooth is hopeless and needs to be extracted, I can do that. I also offer same-day implant solutions, however, if the tooth can be saved, that is usually our goal and we have the technology to make that happen.”

Amy, an attractive woman in her 40s, was told by no less than five doctors there was no way to save her teeth, which were loose and infected with periodontitis. In her words, “Being told that your teeth all need to come out was absolutely devastating.” Luckily for Amy, she got one last opinion from Dr. Barotz before having all of her teeth extracted. At her appointment, Dr. Barotz explained how LANAP (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure) Laser Gum Therapy may be able to save her teeth. Wanting to save her teeth, she decided to pursue LANAP Therapy and that occurred over two years ago. Dr. Barotz stated, “As of today, Amy has all of her teeth and the bone has miraculously grown back around the teeth that were loose. This is because the laser therapy actually stimulates bone regeneration.” Amy reflected on the path she took to save her teeth, “I was told that all of my teeth needed to be removed, but I currently have all of my teeth intact. They showed me a light at the end of the tunnel.”

When asked what an individual with gum disease should do before undergoing painful cut and stitch surgery or having teeth extracted, Dr. Barotz strongly advises patients wanting to save their teeth to seek out another opinion. “We will gladly give second opinions at no charge if you have been

told to have your teeth pulled or that you require cut and stitch surgery. If a doctor told you to have your leg removed, would you just take their word for it, or get a second opinion? It is one of my great joys to help people like Amy save their teeth. Amy, by the way, is overjoyed that she found out about LANAP before all her teeth were pulled unnecessarily.”

In the end, if you are looking for a second opinion, Dr. Barotz encourages you to call his office at 720-259-9959 to arrange your free second opinion evaluation and find out if you may be a candidate for LANAP Laser Gum Therapy.
