Gibson has faced the Rockies just once, getting the start for Texas at Coors Field on Aug. 15, 2020. He picked up the win in the Rangers’ 6-4 victory, allowing two runs over 6 1/3 innings on seven hits. In his last start, Gibson allowed four earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six across 4 2/3 innings in a loss to Miami. Gibson shut out the Marlins for three frames but allowed three extra-base hits in the fourth, including a solo home run. He also walked two batters in the fifth inning. He needed 91 pitches to record 14 outs. Freeland, Colorado’s opening- day starter, was hit hard in both of his first two starts, hence his 10.00 ERA. In his last start against the Cubs, the lefty gave up five earned runs on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings in Colorado’s 5-2 loss at Coors Field. In four career starts against the Phillies, Freeland is 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA.

Trending: Rockies relievers entered Monday night’s game having limited opposing hitters to a .207 batting average (30-for-145) while posting a 1.08 WHIP, the fourth-lowest WHIP in the majors.

At issue: Right fielder Charlie Blackmon is still struggling to escape his funk. He entered Monday’s game batting .194 (6-for-31) with a .523 OPS, no home runs and just three RBIS.
