Marquez says there is nothing wrong with his stuff. His fastball still has life and his breaking balls are sharp. It’s his pitch location that has been off. After four starts, he has a 1.524 WHIP, .308 batting average against and four home runs surrendered. In his first start against the Dodgers, he pitched like the all-star he was in 2021, going seven innings, allowing one run on three hits with five strikeouts and no walks. But over his last three starts his ERA is 7.71. In five career starts against the Nationals, the righthander is 2-2 with a 7.67 ERA. Fedde is coming off a tough loss against Miami in which he gave up two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out five over 4M innings in the Nationals’ 2-1 loss to the Marlins. Fedde’s command wasn’t great. He needed 91 pitches (55 strikes) in less than five innings. The right-hander has served up only two runs in three of his four starts this season and has a career-best 23.5% strikeout rate. In four games (three starts) against Colorado, he’s 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA and a 1.923 WHIP. In two games at Coors Field, Fedde has given up five earned runs and two homers in five innings.

Trending: In their 10-1 victory over Cincinnati on Sunday, the Rockies became just the third team in the majors this season to have three different starting pitchers — Kyle Freeland, German Marquez, and Chad Kuhl — complete at least seven innings in a start. The other two teams are the Mets and Brewers.

At issue: Last season, backup catcher Dom Nunez hit 10 home runs, the second-most by a rookie catcher in franchise history behind Wilin Rosario’s 28 in 2012. But so far this season, Nunez has yet to hit a homer in 22 plate appearances and has a .200 slugging percentage.

Pitching probables Wednesday: Nationals LHP Patrick Corbin (0-4, 8.69) at Rockies LHP Austin Gomber (1-2, 3.86), 6:40 p.m., ATTRM

Thursday: Nationals Aaron Sanchez (1-1, 6.75) at Rockies RHP Antonio Senzatela (2-1, 3.66), 1:10 p.m., ATTRM
