Freeland is coming off his best start of the season. He pitched a season- high seven innings, allowing one run in Colorado’s 10-1 victory over the Reds. He gave up four hits, including a home run. He struck out four and walked one. He’s struggled in his career against Arizona, going 3- 5 with a 5.56
ERA in 15 career starts. In six career starts at Chase Field, he’s 2-2 with a 5.02 ERA.
Davies is 4-3 with a 4.50 ERA in nine career starts vs. Colorado. He got a no- decision in his last start against St. Louis, allowing two unearned runs over five innings. The Cardinals reached him for three hits and a walk, while Davies struck out two. The right- hander signed a one- year, $1.75 million deal to join Arizona in late March.
Trending: Colorado’s 20% strikeout rate is the sixth- best in the majors and its .307 batting average on balls in play is tied with Washington for the second- best behind the Mets (.309).
At issue: The Diamondbacks have handled the Rockies at Chase Field. Entering Friday’s game, Arizona was 10- 4 in its last 14 games against the Rockies in the desert and is
