Swiatek moves on at Indian Wells with win over Collins

INDIAN WELLS, CALIF. >> Topranked Iga Swiatek moved on at the BNP Paribas Open with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over power-hitting Danielle Collins. Swiatek improved to 15-2 this season and earned her fifth straight win over the 30-year-old American, who previously announced that she intends to retire after the season.

Jackson Mahomes gets probation in assault case

KANSAS CITY, KAN. >> The younger brother of Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs quarterbac­k Patrick Mahomes has been sentenced to six months’ probation in a case alleging an assault on a woman. Jackson Mahomes, 23, pleaded guilty to a single misdemeano­r count of battery. The sentencing came more than two months after prosecutor­s dismissed three felony charges for aggravated sexual battery.

Anthony Joshua knocks out star Francis Ngannou

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA >> Former heavyweigh­t champion Anthony Joshua stopped Francis Ngannou in the second round, dominating his matchup with the EX-UFC heavyweigh­t champ.

Joshua floored Ngannou in the first round and again in the second. He finished the fight with one punch immediatel­y after the second 10-count, apparently knocking Ngannou out cold with an unblocked right hand.
