Shiffrin, Kilde announce their engagement
INNSBRUCK, AUSTRIA >> Skiing power couple Mikaela Shiffrin and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde have announced they’re engaged to be married.
Shiffrin, a two-time Olympic champion who has won a record 97 World Cup races, holds her ring up to the camera in one of several photos they posted on their social media accounts.
Aamodt Kilde is a former overall World Cup champion and two-time Olympic medalist. The 31-year-old Norwegian’s season ended in January when he sustained injuries in a crash during a downhill race in Wengen, Switzerland.

Edwards first Black player to score for U.S. women
UTICA, N.Y. >> Laila Edwards became the first Black player to score for the United States women’s hockey team with two goals, Alex Carpenter scored three times and the Americans routed Czechia 6-0 on Friday at the Women’s World Championship.
Canada secured its secondstraight shutout of the tournament with a 3-0 win over Switzerland. Canada improved to 13-0 in the series with the Swiss, including 10 shutouts and a goal differential of 89-3.

Garcia goes back to old putter, shares LIV lead

Inter Miami says Messi will play vs. Colorado Saturday
FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. >> Lionel Messi is coming back to Inter Miami’s lineup, with the team saying his absence for a hamstring injury will end Saturday at home in an MLS match against the Colorado Rapids.
“He’s back,” the team wrote in a social media post Friday.
Messi has missed Inter Miami’s last four games, including one Wednesday when the club wasted a 1-0 lead and lost 2-1 to Mexico’s Monterrey in the first leg of a CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinal.

Bronny James declares for draft, enters transfer portal
LOS ANGELES >> Bronny James will enter the NBA draft after one season at Southern California that was shortened by his recovery from cardiac arrest.
The 19-year-old son of Lebron James announced Friday on his Instagram account that he also plans to retain his college eligibility and will enter the transfer portal.
James posted his decision hours before USC introduced Eric Musselman as its new coach.
