Hudson is making his first career start against the Mariners. He’s been saddled with a loss in all three of his starts this season, marking the first time in his career he’s lost three games a row in the same season. He’s coming off a tough start at Toronto last Sunday, when he gave up five runs on five hits in six innings. He was slammed for four runs in the first inning, the big blow a grand slam by the Blue Jays’ Daulton Varsho. Hudson settled down after that and pitched well, but the damage was done. In his one start at Coors Field this season, Hudson allowed three runs on seven hits across six innings in Colorado’s 3- 2loss to Tampa Bay.

Hancock is making his first appearance vs. the Rockies. In his last start, Hancock lost to the Cubs but surrendered just two runs on four hits over six innings. He issued no walks and struck out four during his first quality start of the season. It was a big improvement over his previous outing vs. Milwaukee when he got rocked for eight runs over 3 1/ 3 innings.
