WHERE TO FIND BROCK PURDY, PATRICK MAHOMES-THEMED PIZZAS IN DES MOINES

Are you a Brock Purdy or Patrick Mahomes fan? The two quarterbacks go head-to-head this weekend in the Super Bowl when the San Francisco 49ers take on the Kansas City Chiefs. In Des Moines, that means fans can order pizzas dedicated to their favorite NFL quarterback.

At Gusto Pizza Bar, that means the return of the Purdylicious, an ode to the 49ers quarterback and Iowa State alum Brock Purdy.

The pizza comes with Buffalo barbecue sauce on top of chicken, with mozzarella, blue cheese, red onion and mozzarella, as well as a “broccoli” slaw. For 49 cents, diners can add jalapeno rings.

A 10-inch pizza goes for $13, while a 14-inch pizza costs $21.

Truman’s KC Pizza Tavern has had the Mahomes on the menu with a meaty combination of sausage, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, ground beef, and bacon. A 10-inch pizza costs $15, and a 14-inch goes for $25.

Those enraptured by the romance between Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and 14-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift can pick up the Chicken and Waffles pizza (Taylor’s version). The sweet pizza on the menu for a limited time includes a cinnamon cream cheese base topped with breaded chicken tenders, buttermilk waffle chunks, strawberries, pineapple, cinnamon sugar and mozzarella.

Truman’s started serving the pizza in October, and noted that, “Travis Kelce’s pregame tradition is eating strawberries and French Toast? And Taylor and all of the Swifties love breaded chicken tenders?”
