- Ema Sasic

Community members in need of social services or employment will have an opportunity to be connected to several resources at the Trans Pride Empower and Employ event on March 30.

The event is put on by the Transgender Health and Wellness Center, a local organization that offers a wide range of social services for transgender community members.

Here's what you need to know.

What is Trans Pride?

The Trans Pride Empower and Employ event hopes to raise public awareness and promote positive

visibility for transgender, gender non-conforming, intersex and allied community members.

The day-long event will include activities, discussions and a variety of resources tailored to the needs of LGBTQ+ community members. Additionally, attendees will have access to career development opportunities and a chance to meet with potential employers.

“We are thrilled to host Trans Pride 2024 Empower and Employ, an event dedicated to celebrating and uplifting transgender, gender non-conforming, and intersex individuals,” Transgender Health & Wellness Center CEO Thomi Clinton said in a statement. “Through education, advocacy and community support, we aim to create a more inclusive and equitable society where everyone can live authentically and with dignity.”

‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ star Eureka O’Hara will join

As an added bonus, “RuPaul's Drag Race” alumna and “We're Here” star Eureka O'Hara will headline the event.

O'Hara competed on the ninth and 10th seasons of “RuPaul's Drag Race,” and later joined the sixth season of “RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars,” where she was the runner-up. In the HBO series

“We're Here,” she and drag queens Bob the Drag Queen and Shangela travel the country to recruit small-town residents to participate in one-night-only drag shows.

O'Hara came out as a transgender woman at the age of 18, but a few years later decided to detransition and live as a nonbinary person. Years later, during the season three finale of “We're Here,” O'Hara came out as a trans woman. She has been an avid advocate for trans rights.

When and where will it take place?

Trans Pride is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at Frances Stevens Park in Palm Springs.
