Bluegrass Trio “Damn Tall Buildings” Rolls into Santa Fe April 18th
Damn Tall Buildings will bring their upbeat bluegrass sound to The Kitchen Sink, 528 Jose Street, Santa Fe on April 18th at 7:30 pm in a dance concert presented by Southwest Roots Music. Damn Tall Buildings is a bluegrass trio that dips its musical toes into swing, ragtime, jazz, and country. With influences old as the hills and an infectious dance energy, the trio radiates the energy of a crew of best friends playing bluegrass on the street. They back that energy with instrumental chops and rock- solid songwriting. Damn Tall Buildings is a tight unit equal parts competence and joy. Their choruses are the kind you sing along to with a glass raised into the air.
In 2013, then students at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, the band took their instruments to nearby street corners and jammed for hours on old bluegrass and blues songs, traditional fiddle tunes, and eventually their own original music. Busking, a continuous test of one’s ability to command an audience’s attention, cemented their closeness and fostered their infectious performance style. Since then, Damn Tall Buildings have recorded four albums, toured widely, and appeared at top roots festivals like Freshgrass, Walnut Valley Festival and Merlefest. And now their first-ever New Mexico show happens in Santa Fe.
