St. Marys boys cross-country places third in O-G

OTTAWA — The St. Marys Roughrider­s boys cross-country team placed third at the Ottawa-Glandorf Blue/Gold Invitation­al on Saturday.

The boys team finished with 97 points, third behind host Ottawa-Glandorf with 54 and invite winner Van Wert with 36 points. The Roughrider­s girls cross-country team placed sixth in the invite with 166 points. Van Wert won the girls meet with 79 points, followed by Delphos St. John’s with 93, Kenton with 134, Patrick Henry for fourth with

136 and Crestview with 150 points to round out the top five teams.

Tyler Birt paved the way for the boys team with a seventhpla­ce time of 27:57.24, followed by Michael Crites with a time of 18:25.86 for 12th place and Seth Brandt with a time of 18:26.72 for 13th place overall.

Robert Bayham ran with a time of 19:10.77, Clavin Morris had a time of 20:10.32, Ray Walter finished with a time of 20:38.94 and Dylan Hertenstei­n had a time of 21:07.52.

Ellen Schloemer led the Roughrider­s girls team with a seventh-place time of 20:36.12. Maria Jutte placed 21st overall with her time of 22:03.98, Karlie Lucas ran with a time of 23:33.33 for 42nd place, Raeh Wehnes followed with a time of 23:35.14 and Liz Ackroyd placed 53rd with a time of 24:32.58. Also competing for the Roughrider­s were Bianca Endres (24:46.92) and Zoe Teeters (27:29.74).

MINSTER — The Minster Wildcats boys cross-country team won the Minster MiniMAC meet on Saturday while the Wildcats girls team placed second behind Anna.

Alex Albers won the boys meet with a time of 16:06.65 to lead five runners who finished with the top 10 times for the Wildcats.

Joseph Slonkosky placed fifth with his time of 17:39.27, Jack Grieshop ran with a time of 17:39.85 for sixth place, Josh Niekamp placed eighth with his time of 17:45.25 and Jim Trzaska placed 10th overall with a time of 17:52.67.

Ella Boate won the meet with a time of 19:34.63, followed by Taylor Roth with her time of 20:27.85. Mason Pohl placed 10th with a time of 20:59.08, Chaney Cedarleaf ran with a time of 21:07.57 for 11th place overall and Emma Meyer finished 19th with her time of 22:10.09 as the Wildcats had five runners finish with the top 19 times.

The New Knoxville Rangers competed at the Minster MiniMAC meet.

Rebecca Leffel led the girls team with a time of 23:31.26 for 37th place overall. Abigail Sniegowski (25:25.43) and Dakota Kennedy (27:11.54) also competed for New Knoxville.

GREENVILLE — The New Bremen Cardinals girls crosscount­ry team finished as a runner-up in the Blackhawk Invitation­al on Saturday while the Cardinals boys team finished third.

The Cardinals girls finished with 49 points, behind invite champ Fort Recovery with its 38 points.

Chloe Homan led the way for the Cardinals with a time of 20:46.7 to place fourth overall. Emma Keller followed with a sixth-place time of 21:25.1 and Caroline Whitlach finished with a time of 21:34.6 for a ninthplace finish. Rounding out the top five for New Bremen was Lily Rindler (22:02.5) and Alayna Thieman (22:16.2).

The Cardinals boys team placed third with is 65 points. Arcanum won the invite with 35 points and Alter placed second with 54 points.

Zach Wiedeman led the Cards with a seventh-place time of 18:15.1, followed by Patrick Bernhokd with his time of 18:46.9 for 12th place and Zach Ashman with his 14th-place time of 19:00.5.

Gavin Spragg (19:21.9) and Cole Powers (19:28.3) rounded out the top five times for New Bremen.
